Today, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Byashimova held a meeting with the Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) Zafar Makhmudov.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the parties discussed a wide range of issues in the field of environmental protection, ecology and climate change.
In particular, they discussed Turkmenistan's international initiatives on environmental protection, the efforts of Central Asian countries to combat the negative effects of climate change, as well as aspects of implementing joint projects.
It was noted that, having ratified the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, Turkmenistan fulfills all its obligations.
They also reviewed the active work of the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan, whose activities are aimed at promoting the development of regional dialogue between representatives of environmental and water agencies of the countries of the region.
