The SoCal Fire Fund charity organized an auction, where the main lots were meetings with famous actors and exclusive invitations to high-profile premieres. The goal of the event was to support California residents affected by the devastating forest fires, snob.ru writes with reference to The Hollywood Reporter.
Auction participants can compete for lunch with Oscar-winner Julia Roberts, visit the set of the popular TV series “The Murders in the Building” with Steve Martin, get a ticket to the premiere of “White Lotus” or meet Scarlett Johansson at a screening of the film “Jurassic World: Resurgence”.
The auction's special feature is that every participant has a chance to meet the star, regardless of the size of the donation. The Entertainment Industry Fund will distribute the collected funds.
The natural disaster began on January 7 in the exclusive Pacific Palisades area, then the fire engulfed Malibu and Santa Monica. As a result, 24 people died, more than 10 thousand houses were destroyed. The damage is estimated at 150 billion USD, which created serious difficulties for US insurance companies.
Many celebrities have already stepped up to provide personal assistance: Beyoncé has donated 2,5 million USD, Jennifer Lopez has provided essential supplies, and Selena Gomez has donated 5 million USD to support those affected.
