Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan form 95% of Central Asia's gross domestic product, according to the report "Macroeconomic Forecast 2025-2027" by the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB).
The bank estimates that the region's combined GDP could top 500 billion USD in 2024, rising more than 10% to 519 billion USD. EDB experts note high rates of economic growth in Central Asian countries, despite the external challenges of the last two years.
The region's population has reached 80 million people, an increase of 3,7% compared to 2021 and 1,4 times over the past 24 years.
The EDB predicts the strengthening of the strategic role of Central Asia in the Eurasian space. As noted in the report, the transit potential of the countries of the region and their inclusion in new international transport corridors create opportunities to enter foreign markets and strengthen the economy.
