1. On December 25, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov left for a working visit to the Russian Federation to participate in the informal Summit of the CIS Heads of State. During the Summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited the CIS heads of state to take part in the upcoming celebrations in Moscow next year to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Upon completion of the working visit to the Russian Federation, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov proceeded to Pulkovo International Airport in St. Petersburg, from where he departed for his homeland.
2. National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the International Scientific and Clinical Oncology Center being built in the northern part of Ashgabat. Here, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan was shown the projects of the new healthcare complex, drawings of their location and features of its equipment.
3. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed condolences to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in connection with the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane near Aktau, Kazakhstan. On behalf of the people and government of the country, as well as on his own behalf, the President of Turkmenistan conveyed words of sympathy and support at this difficult moment to the families and friends of the victims, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.
4. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Maia Sandu on the occasion of her inauguration as President of the Republic of Moldova. The head of state expressed sincere wishes for Maia Sandu's good health, happiness and well-being, as well as great success in her high government post in the name of the development and prosperity of the friendly country.
5. On December 25, famous Turkish singer and actor Murat Boz performed a New Year's concert at the Winter Sports Complex in Ashgabat. This is his second performance in Turkmenistan after an 11-year break. He first performed here in 2013 at a festive concert on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality. As we reported earlier, New Year's festive concerts held in Ashgabat with the participation of famous pop stars from foreign countries will continue until December 28. 7. US President Joe Biden has approved a legislative initiative to designate the bald eagle as the national bird of the United States. The bald eagle has been considered a symbol of the power of the United States for more than 250 years. Its image was first used on the Great Seal of the United States in 1782. The bald eagle is a unique representative of the fauna of North America. Unlike other eagles, this bird prefers to settle near sea coasts and large bodies of water, where it hunts mainly fish.
8. The London Environment Committee issued a 1000 pounds sterling fine to a five-year-old child. The reason was a piece of packaging with the girl's name on it that was found on the street. Representatives of the city's environmental service contacted the child's father, claiming that the girl had violated waste disposal rules. However, none of the local residents or employees of the service witnessed the alleged violation. The situation was resolved only after the intervention of city councilor Stephen Hickman, who criticized the practice of fining children. In its defense, the environmental service said that it had no information about the age of the alleged offender. As a result, the fine was cancelled.
