Today, at Pulkovo Airport, a meeting was held between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov. During a brief conversation, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, tvspb.ru reports.
The Governor particularly noted the Turkmen side’s careful attitude to the memory of the Great Patriotic War and the siege of Leningrad. As a token of gratitude to the Turkmen people for helping the residents of besieged Leningrad, a monument called “Friendship” is planned to be erected in Ashgabat.
Cooperation between St. Petersburg and Turkmenistan is actively developing in the economic, cultural and educational spheres. St. Petersburg companies are participating in the construction of infrastructure facilities in Turkmenistan, and about two thousand Turkmen students are studying at universities in the Northern capital.
On Wednesday, December 25, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in St. Petersburg to participate in an informal summit of the heads of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
