A gala reception was held in Ashgabat in honor of the 73rd anniversary of Libyan Independence Day. The event was attended by Chargé d'Affaires of the Libyan Embassy Mahmud Abdulaziz Hasan, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan Mergen Gurdov, representatives of diplomatic missions and the business community.

As Mahmoud Abdulaziz Hassan noted, in 2024, the Libyan diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan received the status of an embassy in accordance with Resolution of the Council of Ministers of Libya No. 74 of 2023, which indicates the commitment of the Libyan government to develop relations with Turkmenistan and other Central Asian states. Particular attention in the speech was paid to the development of cultural ties: for the first time since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Libyan musician Hisham Arrish visited Turkmenistan, who conducted a master class at the Turkmen National Conservatory and gave a concert at the Turkmenistan Concert Hall. Mahmoud Abdulaziz Hassan announced upcoming visits by Libyan artists and cultural events, emphasizing the importance of cultural diplomacy in the development of bilateral relations. The diplomat also expressed satisfaction with the appearance of Turkmen goods on Libyan markets.

Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan Mergen Gurdov emphasized the significant potential for cooperation between the countries in energy, agriculture, infrastructure and technology. He invited Libyan partners to take part in exhibitions and forums planned in Turkmenistan for 2025.

Diplomatic relations between the countries were established in December 1992. The appearance of Turkmen goods on the Libyan market and prospects for the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation were especially noted.

After the official part, guests were able to try traditional Libyan dishes and view the exhibition of the Libyan Embassy in the lobby of the "Yyldyz" hotel.
