British monarch Charles III has knighted film director Christopher Nolan, and his wife and producer Emma Thomas has been made a lady. Buckingham Palace noted that the couple was honoured for their outstanding contribution to cinema, including the creation of the cult trilogy “The Dark Knight” and the Oscar-winning “Oppenheimer”, daily.afisha.ru reports.
In a conversation with journalists, Nolan shared that the king highly appreciated his latest film, expressing hope that this recognition will inspire the director to new creative achievements. Emma Thomas admitted that receiving such a high award exceeded all her expectations, and it was especially valuable to share this moment with her husband.
The story of Nolan and Thomas' creative and personal union began within the walls of University College London. After their wedding in 1997, they founded Syncopy Inc., which debuted with the film “Batman” Begins. The renowned filmmakers are currently working on a new project, which features stars such as Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Anne Hathaway and Zendaya.
