8. A study conducted by Michigan scientists found that eating a hot dog with cola shortens a person's life by almost an hour. The experts analyzed about six thousand food products produced in the United States, assessing their potential impact on the body based on additives, fats, calories, and sugar. The most illustrative example was a hot dog with soda. According to the data obtained, one such meal reduces life expectancy by almost an hour: 36 minutes are “taken away” by the hot dog itself and another 12 minutes by a sweet carbonated drink. Moreover, the researchers found similar figures for other popular dishes: bacon reduces life by 6 minutes, and a cheeseburger by 9 minutes. Scientists claim that replacing 10% of calories obtained from processed meat with fruits and vegetables can compensate for the lost 48 minutes of life from a hot dog with soda.
