Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat told reporters that Turkey and Turkmenistan have set an ambitious goal of doubling trade volume between the countries in the coming years. At an exhibition in Ashgabat, where more than 70 Turkish companies presented their products, Bolat emphasized that the current trade volume is insufficient, and the countries aim to reach $5 billion annually.

– We will increase our cooperation in many areas in line with the vision of the leaders of our brotherly countries. $2.5 billion in annual trade is not enough for us. We aim to increase it to $5 billion per year in the medium term. The 8th meeting of the intergovernmental commission is planned to be held in Ankara in February-March next year, where a new roadmap for trade and economic cooperation will be adopted, the minister noted.

In addition, Bolat reported on ongoing negotiations on the transportation of Turkmen natural gas to Europe and in the chemical industry, where important agreements are expected to be signed in the near future. Turkey and

Turkmenistan are also actively working to improve customs procedures and simplify visa regimes for citizens of both countries.

Noting that Turkmenistan is an important trade partner for Turkey, Bolat emphasized the importance of joint projects implemented by Turkish construction companies in Turkmenistan, as well as plans to expand trade through the Middle Corridor.

The Turkish Export Exhibition will continue until December 6.
