Athletes from Turkmenistan won 9 medals of various denominations at the 22nd World Belt Wrestling Championships among men and women held in Kazan, reports “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.
The competition in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation brought together about 270 athletes from 35 countries, who competed in the “Ak Bars” Martial Arts Palace for the title of the strongest in two styles – freestyle and classical.
Based on the results of all types of competitions, Turkmen athletes won three gold, one silver and five bronze medals.
The highest awards were awarded in freestyle belt wrestling to Abdyresul Durdyev (weight category up to 62 kg), Annagurban Allaberdiyev (up to 90 kg) and Palvan Gurbangeldiyev (up to 100 kg).
The silver medalist in the classical style of belt wrestling was Nurmuhammet Baydogdyev (over 100 kg). And the bronze medals went to: in freestyle - Ashirmurat Amandurdyev (up to 57 kg), Mekan Nurberdiyev (up to 68 kg), Azymmuhammet Orazmuhammedov (up to 75 kg) and Nobatgeldi Nazarov (up to 100 kg), and in the classical style - Davut Nazarov (over 100 kg).
