Today, the Global Media and Information Literacy Week was launched around the world under the auspices of UNESCO.

This year's theme is "New Digital Frontiers of Information: Media and Information Literacy for Public Information".

The week will focus on the transformative impact of cutting-edge technologies such as generative artificial intelligence and a new generation of digital content creators on the production and distribution of information for the benefit of society, highlighting both the opportunities and the risks.

The Week will culminate in a global conference hosted by UNESCO and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Amman on October 30-31. The conference will provide participants with an opportunity to engage in interesting and insightful discussions, hear from experts, and explore innovative ways to strengthen collaboration in the field of media and information literacy.

Global Media and Information Literacy Week is an international movement that encourages stakeholders from all corners of the world to hold their own events and activities. Whether it’s local workshops, national awareness campaigns or online webinars, everyone is invited to take part in this global initiative.

This year, with the support of the US Embassy in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan trained 13 national trainers in media and information literacy, who have already conducted the first trainings across the country for adult and youth audiences.

Also, within the framework of this direction, they implemented various projects aimed at increasing media literacy among young people, as well as among professional employees.

Earlier, we reported that a training on media literacy was held for NRCST volunteers in Ashgabat.
