On October 16, a round table on the implementation of the roadmap for basin management and planning was held at the “Archabil” hotel within the framework of the USAID regional project on water resources and the environment.

The event was attended by representatives of the State Committee for Water Management, as well as subordinate organizations, the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, international organizations, and the USAID regional project team.

During the meeting, a representative of the State Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, Arslan Soltanmyradov, spoke, emphasizing the strategic importance of rational water resources management for the sustainable development of the agro-industrial complex and livestock farming, especially in the context of growing environmental challenges.

Successful implementation of this project will open up new opportunities for increasing water use efficiency, improving ecosystems and strengthening food security, noted A. Soltanmyradov, emphasizing the importance of coordinating the efforts of all stakeholders, including government agencies and international organizations, to achieve long-term goals.

The objective of the Regional Water and Environment Project is to strengthen technical capacity and regional cooperation in transboundary water management in Central Asia to enhance sustainable economic prosperity and healthy ecosystems.

The project takes a multi-layered approach to addressing complex regional water issues by strengthening cooperation through stakeholder dialogue, according to a USAID press release.
