1. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed an Order to hold an International Competition in honor of the Turkmen Alabai Day in Ashgabat on October 27. The celebration will also include competitions among carpet weavers, artists, sculptors, photographers, publishing workers and television cameramen. The works will be evaluated by a special commission, the composition of which was also approved by the presidential decree.

2. The opening ceremony of the Days of Culture of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan was held at the Palace of Mukams of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan. Masters of culture and arts from Russia presented a bright show, in which the central place was occupied by the State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble of Adygea “Nalmes”. An exhibition of works by photo artists and works of applied art entitled “Patchwork Mosaic of Russia” was organized in the foyer of the Palace of Mukams. On October 17, the series of events will continue with a concert by the famous pianist, laureate of international music competitions Dmitry Masleev.

3. The 13th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held in Ashgabat. During the meeting, it was noted that relations between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan have acquired a qualitatively new dynamic in recent years. Regular visits and high-level meetings contribute to the development of fruitful cooperation. The agenda of the meeting included priority issues of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. The possibilities of diversifying mutually beneficial relations, increasing trade turnover, intensifying investment activities and implementing new joint projects were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the energy sector, transport and logistics, agriculture and the industrial complex.

4. The International Competition of Scientific Project Works “Agroinnovations: A Bright Path to Sustainable Development” has started its work at the Turkmen Agricultural Institute, located in the administrative center of the Dashoguz velayat. Students from higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan, as well as from neighboring and distant countries, are taking part in the competition. The competition is held in two stages. At the first stage, the panel of judges analyzed all the received works. At the second stage, 150 best projects were presented to a competent jury. The works are divided into three areas: agricultural projects, IT projects and business projects. Among the participants are students from 26 universities in nine countries. Turkmen student youth are represented by 100 works from 16 universities of the country.

5. The “Ak Bugday” National Museum in Anau hosted an international scientific meeting titled “Turkmenistan – the Hearth of Ancient Civilizations”, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of outstanding scientists, archaeologists, and winners of the International Magtymguly Prize Vadim Masson and Viktor Sarianidi. Academicians Vadim Masson and Viktor Sarianidi devoted their work to studying the ancient monuments of Turkmenistan. In different years, they were awarded the International Magtymguly Prize and other state awards.

6. In one of the corners of the African savannah, in a Namibian reserve, fate brought together two unusual friends: the warthog Betsy and the meerkat Jerry. Their strong friendship, reminiscent of the relationship between Timon and Pumbaa from the famous cartoon, has won the hearts of people around the world. Jerry and Betsy spend a lot of time together, playing and having fun. The meerkat especially likes to climb on the back of his massive friend. Despite the difference in size, they get along well with each other and with other inhabitants of the reserve.

7. An unusual trend is gaining popularity in China: pet owners send their pets to work in specialized cafes. This practice permits dogs and cats to spend time in an interesting environment while their owners are busy. In China, the pet cafe industry is well developed. Visitors pay about 8,50 USD to enter. Pets can “work” full or part-time, just like real employees. Interestingly, before hiring, owners must post their pet’s resume on social media.

8. The Turkmenistan National Volleyball Team is preparing to participate in the Central Asian Volleyball Association Championship CAVA-2024, which will be held from October 18 to 24 in Tashkent. Teams from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and the Maldives will take part in the tournament.

9. “Arkadag”, who secured the championship of Turkmenistan ahead of schedule in the last round, will play away against “Ahal” in the rescheduled match of the 29th round of the Premier League. The game will be held on October 17 at the “Nisa” stadium in Ashgabat.

10. The English Football Association has announced the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as head coach of the national team. The 51 years old German specialist will take up his duties in January 2025. Tuchel's last place of work was “Bayern” Munich. Before that, he successfully coached such famous clubs as “Chelsea”, “PSG” and “Borussia” Dortmund.
