Turkmenistan presented its energy strategy at the UNECE Sustainable Energy Week 2024 in Geneva

The delegation of Turkmenistan took an active part in the Sustainable Energy Week organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on September 18-19, 2024 in Geneva, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

On 18 September, Deputy Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan Serdar Saparov spoke at a session on a just transition to clean energy sources in the UNECE region. Participants discussed best practices and current challenges in this area.

The following day, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva, Ambassador Vepa Hajiyev, presented the main directions of the country's economic policy. He emphasized the importance of priority tasks within the framework of Turkmenistan's upcoming chairmanship of SPECA (UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia) in 2025.

The Turkmen side focused on the country's active work in the field of sustainable energy and rational use of natural resources. Key priorities were identified: diversification of the energy sector, introduction of innovative technologies and development of renewable energy projects.

The event ended with a fruitful discussion, during which the participants discussed the prospects for energy cooperation and exchanged experiences in implementing sustainable development projects.
