Today, the construction of the section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline in the Serhetabat-Herat section was launched on the border of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, TDH reports.

The ceremony was attended by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Acting Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan Molla Mohammed Hasan Akhund.

The construction of this section of the gas pipeline is an important step towards creating a sustainable energy infrastructure in the region. The TAPI pipeline envisages the transportation of natural gas from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan and Pakistan to India, which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase energy security in South and Central Asia. This project also plays a key role in addressing environmental issues and supporting sustainable economic growth in the countries of the region.
