The International Scientific Conference “Achievements in Seed Production of Agricultural Crops and Prospective Tasks” has opened in Ashgabat. The two-day forum, held at the “Yyldyz” hotel, brought together representatives of relevant ministries, departments and research centers from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, as well as other countries and the CIS Executive Committee.
As reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, the event opened with the reading of a welcoming address by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. In his message, the head of state noted the significant efforts made by the country for the comprehensive development of agronomy. The President emphasized the success of domestic scientists in developing new highly productive varieties of agricultural crops, taking into account regional characteristics.
The conference participants visited the exhibition at the International Scientific and Technological Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. The exhibition demonstrated the achievements of Turkmen farmers, the capabilities of the local agro-industrial complex and modern equipment from leading global manufacturers. Of particular interest were samples of promising wheat varieties developed by Turkmen breeders.
The key topics for discussion at the conference were the cultivation of high-yielding varieties of wheat, potatoes and other crops, as well as the exchange of best practices in seed production. These areas have been identified by the leadership of Turkmenistan as priorities for the development of the national agro-industrial complex.
