New Hungarian ambassador accredited in Turkmenistan, ADB allocates 625 million dollars for projects in Turkmenistan, President of the International Gymnastics Federation pays official visit to Ashgabat and other news

1. Newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Turkmenistan Jozsef Rozs was accredited in Ashgabat. On behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Ambassador's credentials were received by the Speaker of the Mejlis Gulmanova. Congratulating the diplomat on his appointment to a responsible diplomatic post, the head of the national parliament wished him fruitful work.

2. The Asian Development Bank has allocated 625 million USD for investment projects in Turkmenistan, one completed and one ongoing. ADB is also providing 11 million USD in technical assistance to strengthen institutions and build capacity. In August 2024, ADB approved a new country partnership strategy for Turkmenistan for 2024-2028. The overall objective of this Strategy is to support Turkmenistan in its efforts to build a more stable, climate-resilient, and competitive economy.

3. Ashgabat passenger road transportation enterprise of “Turkmenawtoulaglary” Agency has updated its website and mobile application. Now passengers can buy up to 10 tickets at a time and return them online. A function to check the status of a ticket by scanning a QR code on the PDF version of the document has been added. The new website allows passengers to buy tickets for dates starting September 20. The old site will only work for ticket purchases for dates up to and including Sept. 19.

4. The delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took part in the Second Interparliamentary Forum of Central Asian states in Khiva. The forum is aimed at supporting friendly cooperation between the Central Asian states at the parliamentary level, developing inter-parliamentary relations in the region, as well as disseminating the positive experience of active participation of parliamentarians in the socio-economic development of the country.

5. The State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan hosted an online conference on the theme “Development of national handicrafts in the years of independence and study of the most important directions of world practice”. The conference was timed to coincide with the exhibition of arts and crafts, which was held in the gallery of the Academy. The participants familiarized themselves with creative products and creativity of masters. The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan together with the Secretariat of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO and representatives of the Resource Center for the introduction of innovations and preservation of traditions in the cultural sphere of the Republic of Tatarstan.

6. 14 All-Russian exhibition and show of Ahal-Teke horses will be held at VDNKh in Moscow. This ancient breed, whose history goes back more than five millennia, was bred in Turkmenistan. The event is organized with the support of the Russian Association of Ahal-Teke Horse Breeding. More than 30 best representatives of the breed from the leading stud farms and farms of Russia are expected to participate. In addition to the main exhibition, the audience will be able to enjoy the show-breeding and the “Traditional Decorations” contest, where festive decorations for horses, characteristic of Turkmen culture, will be presented.

7. President of the International Gymnastics Federation Morinari Watanabe paid an official visit to Ashgabat today and was impressed by the sports infrastructure of the capital of Turkmenistan. After inspecting the gymnastics halls in the Olympic City, Watanabe noted the huge potential of young Turkmen athletes and expressed readiness to support their development. The FIG President expressed surprise at the excellent conditions for training in Turkmenistan and noted that he had already shared his impressions with his colleagues in Japan and China. He assured that the International Gymnastics Federation will fully support the development of this sport in Turkmenistan. Morinari Watanabe also expressed hope for the participation of Turkmen gymnasts in the future Olympic Games, calling it a common dream for the athletes and the Federation.
