An auditorium of the Turkmen classic Magtymguly was opened at Sukhumi University

The grand opening of the Magtymguly Fragi Auditorium was held yesterday at Sukhumi State University in Tbilisi.

The presentation to the audience, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet, was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia with the active assistance of Sukhumi State University.

As reported on the website of the Turkmen embassy, the celebration was attended by a Turkmen delegation, as well as the university’s faculty and students.

Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Georgia D. Seyitmammedov noted in his speech that an integral part of the modern Turkmen-Georgian interstate dialogue is the cultural and humanitarian sphere. This is the intellectual platform that contributes to strengthening relations between countries, built on the basis of mutual respect, equality and openness.

Magtymguly’s poetry, translated into dozens of languages, resonates in the hearts of millions of readers around the world, representatives of the Turkmen delegation emphasized.

Rector of Sukhumi State University Z. Khonelidze expressed confidence that the opening of the Magtymguly auditorium will contribute to a wider acquaintance of the Georgian public with the poet’s work, Turkmen history, culture, traditions, as well as strengthening fruitful humanitarian dialogue, relations of friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
