A goldfish named Carrot, recognized as the largest in the world, has died in France, runews24.ru reports with reference to the Daily Mail.

The giant orange carp was found lifeless in a fishing pond at Bluewater Lakes in Champagne. Although Carrot's exact age remains unknown, experts believe she lived for about 20 years and died of old age. Her bright colors and impressive weight of 30 kilograms made her a true international celebrity.

The carrot was not just a fish, but a real symbol of luck for fishermen from all over the world. Enthusiasts came to Champagne specifically to try their luck in catching this legendary carp, invariably releasing it back into the water after a photo shoot.

A memorial plaque was installed near the pond in memory of Carrot. Bluewater Lakes representatives noted the uniqueness of the fish and reported that its legacy will live on in its offspring - two of its fry are already growing up, and one of them has reached a weight of 18 kilograms.
