A meeting of the Board of Directors of TAPI Pipeline Company Limited was held in the capital of Turkmenistan to review key aspects of the “Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India” (TAPI) gas pipeline project. The meeting participants emphasized the strategic importance of this large-scale energy project for the region and discussed further steps for its implementation, IIC reports.
The TAPI gas pipeline is one of the priority areas of Turkmenistan's energy strategy aimed at modernizing the country's fuel and energy complex and expanding export opportunities. The project is designed not only to increase the capacity of the national fuel and energy complex, but also to create a new system for transportation of energy resources to world markets.
The meeting paid special attention to the significance of TAPI for strengthening regional and global energy security. It was noted that the implementation of the project will contribute to improving the socio-economic situation of the population in the participating countries, creating new jobs and stimulating economic growth in the regions through which the gas pipeline will pass.
The Board of Directors emphasized the necessity to continue active work on the project and to implement all envisaged measures for the successful completion of the TAPI gas pipeline.
