Meituan has launched an innovative drone delivery service on the Great Wall of China. Now tourists visiting the southern section of Badaling can order food, drinks and even medicines while walking, VokrugSveta.ru reports.

The drones cover the route from the roof of a nearby hotel to the watchtower in just 5 minutes, while on foot it would take about 50 minutes. The service is especially relevant for the recently opened section of the wall, which experiences intense heat in the summer and lacks shelter.

The ordering process is simple: the customer uses an app, a delivery person picks up the order from the store and delivers it to the hotel roof, where it is attached to a drone. At the watchtower, another person picks up the cargo and hands it over to the customer.

The drones operate from 10:00 to 16:00, carrying up to 2 kg per flight. Outside of working hours, they are used for garbage collection. The delivery fee is only 4 yuan, which is the same as the regular rate. This is the first such service in Beijing, and it can operate even in moderate wind and rain.
