One of the Italian restaurants has attracted the attention of tourists and local residents. The establishment has raised the price of Hawaiian pizza to an incredible 100 euros, which is 10 times higher than the cost of other types of pizza on the menu. This was reported by Kazinform with reference to the official Telegram channel BILD.
This unexpected step became known thanks to a video published by a tourist on social networks. The footage shows that the price of pizza with pineapple stands out sharply compared to other menu items.
The Südtirol News portal commented on the situation, calling it “compensation” for Italian chefs for preparing a dish foreign to their cuisine. Indeed, Hawaiian pizza, invented in Canada in 1962, is not popular among Italians and is considered a violation of the country's culinary traditions.
It is worth noting that the Italian agricultural association Coldiretti recently included Hawaiian pizza in its list of the worst versions of this dish. For Italians, pizza is not just food, but a matter of national pride and cultural heritage.
This restaurant's pricing policy caused heated discussions online. Many see this as a kind of protest against the “wrong” pizza and an attempt to preserve the purity of Italian culinary traditions.
