On July 28, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei signed a decree confirming Masoud Pezeshkian as President of the Islamic Republic. The approval ceremony was broadcast live by IRIB TV.

The event in Tehran was attended by many high-ranking officials and theologians from the Iranian leadership. The ceremony began with a report from the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ahmad Vahidi, on how the presidential elections went. The text of the decree was read by the head of Khamenei's office, Mohammad Golpayegani. The Supreme Leader personally handed over the original decree to Pezeshkiyan.

The new president addressed words of gratitude to the people and called on them for cohesion and unity.

The confirmation ceremony for the elected president is a mandatory procedure and precedes the inauguration, which will take place on July 30 in the building of the Majlis (Iran's unicameral parliament).
