Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun has officially become a player of the “Shabab Al-Ahli” football club from the United Arab Emirates. The 29 years old forward left the German “Bayer 04” Leverkusen, where he previously played. This was reported by the press service of the Emirati club.

The details of the transfer are not disclosed, but according to the well-known football insider Fabrizio Romano, the deal was worth about 5 million euros. This is slightly lower than the current market value of the player, which the Transfermarkt portal estimates at 8 million euros.

Azmoun, who has Turkmen roots, played on loan for Italian club “Roma” last season. In 29 matches for the “Roma” club, he scored three goals and made four assists. However, “Roma” did not exercise the option to buy the player's contract.

Sardar Azmoun played 83 matches for the Iranian national team, scoring 53 goals.

In addition to his sporting achievements, Azmoun is known for his social activities: he is an honorary member of the Humanitarian Association of Turkmens of the World and the “Mekan” Society of Turkmen Culture in St. Petersburg.
