The Ambassador of Turkmenistan Batyr Rejepov and the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan Ermek Marzhikpayev held a meeting where they discussed the prospects for cooperation in the fields of tourism and sports. This was reported by the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
The recent designation of Ashgabat as a “City of New Sports Opportunities of the Commonwealth” was noted at the May 2024 meeting of the CIS Heads of Government. Marzhikpayev congratulated the Turkmen side on this achievement and wished new high results in the field of sports. The Ambassador of Turkmenistan proposed signing a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of sports to strengthen the partnership.
In addition, the parties agreed to develop tourism ties, in particular, through the participation of Turkmen companies in exhibitions held in Kazakhstan.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Marzhikpayev invited the Turkmen side to take part in the official opening ceremony of the 5th World Nomad Games, which will be held on September 8-14, 2024 in Astana.
