The President of Turkmenistan met with the new UNICEF representative

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the new UNICEF Resident Representative in Turkmenistan, Jalpa Ratna. This is stated in a report by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN Children's Fund were discussed. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that interaction with international organizations is a key direction of the country's foreign policy.

The successes of bilateral cooperation were noted, including the election of Turkmenistan as a member of the UNICEF Executive Board for 2024-2026. This year, ten documents on cooperation in the areas of healthcare, education and social welfare for children have been signed.

Particular attention is paid to issues of protecting children's rights. The head of Turkmenistan announced the approval of the National Action Plan for the implementation of children's rights for 2023-2028 and emphasized the importance of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation, which provides assistance to children in need.

-It is very important to take care of children and adolescents and surround them with special attention, - Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, the head of state confirmed Turkmenistan’s interest in further continuing a comprehensive partnership with the UN Children’s Fund, wishing the head of the Ashgabat UNICEF office good health and success in his work.
