Representatives of the interdepartmental working group for the development and implementation of the National Action Plans of Turkmenistan to combat trafficking in persons visited Belarus on a fact-finding visit.
The visit was held from June 26 to July 2, reports newscentralasia.net.
Turkmen delegates got acquainted with the experience of their colleagues in the field of combating human trafficking within the framework of the project of the International Organization for Migration in Turkmenistan “Strengthening the legal framework of Turkmenistan to combat human trafficking, taking into account the empowerment of youth and women”.
Meetings were held with representatives of the Department of Citizenship and Migration and the Main Directorate for Drug Control and Combating Trafficking in Persons of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus.
Also, during the visit, an acquaintance was held with the activities of the International Training Center of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, the Life Safety Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus, the work of the “hotline” based on the national non-governmental organization “Business Women’s Club” in the city of Brest and the Rehabilitation Center of the International Organization for Migration in Minsk.
In addition, delegates got acquainted with the activities of the Border Service in identifying victims of human trafficking at the stage of entry and exit from the country at the Minsk National Airport.
According to members of the delegation of Turkmenistan, Belarusian experience in combating human trafficking will be taken into account in the implementation of the new National Action Plan of Turkmenistan to combat human trafficking, work on which is currently being completed with the support of IOM in Turkmenistan.
