British Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader Rishi Sunak has announced his resignation following his party's defeat in the general election. The Labor Party, led by Keir Starmer, won a landslide victory.
“The Labor Party won the general election and I called Keir Starmer to congratulate him. Tonight, the British people delivered a sobering verdict”, - Sunak said in his address.
Rishi Sunak took over as Prime Minister in October 2022, becoming the UK's first head of government of Indian origin. His tenure lasted less than two years.
