Turkmen wrestler won bronze at the Asian Youth Championship (U23)

At the recently completed freestyle wrestling competition among youth under 23 in Amman (Jordan), Turkmen athlete Alp Arslan Begenjov won a bronze medal in the weight category up to 79 kg. Eight wrestlers competed in this category.

Alp Arslan began his path to the podium with a victory over Muhammad Abdullayev from Kyrgyzstan with a score of 12:7. However, in the semi-finals he lost to the future champion Nan Chao from China with a score of 1:4. In the fight for third place, the Turkmen wrestler won a confident victory over Daler Chulibaev from Uzbekistan with a score of 12:1, thereby winning a bronze medal.

Amit Amit from India also won bronze in this weight category, while Rustem Myrzagaliev from Kazakhstan received a silver medal.

Alp Arslan Begenjov will soon turn 18 years old – August 8th. Previously, he twice became the winner of the international tournament “Constantin Alexandru & Ioan W. Popovici” among cadets under 17 years old in Romania in 2022 and 2023.

In 2022, he won gold at the Asian Cadet Championships in the up to 65 kg weight category, and in 2023, he became a bronze medalist in the up to 71 kg weight category. Now he has added a bronze medal from the Asian Under-23 Championship to his collection.
