1. June 29 marked exactly one year since the opening of the “smart” city of Arkadag in Turkmenistan. On this occasion, ceremonial events were held on this day. Numerous residents who received comfortable apartments and houses in the city of Arkadag celebrated their housewarming.

2. Scientists of the “Space-Earth” Society, who study celestial bodies, named one of the stars in the sky the name “Arkadag” in honor of the first anniversary of the discovery of the city of Arkadag and as a symbol of pride in it. The certificate naming the star the name “Arkadag”, as well as the telescope and photographs taken of the star were handed over to the Magtymguly Turkmen State University.

3. On June 29, a festive concert took place at Arkadag Binasy Square, in which popular Turkish singers Mustafa Sandal and Mustafa Jeceli took part. The performance of the Turkish guests was greeted with loud applause from the audience.

4. Turkmenistan is preparing to take part in the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change COP-29, which will be held in Baku from November 11 to 22. The country will host the next meeting of the Working Group created within the Interdepartmental Commission on Environmental Issues. As a result of the meeting, new projects will be developed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Turkmenistan and adapt to climate change.

5. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres began a tour of the countries of Central Asia. The route includes Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. The visit will last until July 7. On July 4, the UN Secretary General will take part in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Astana.

6. The first group of pilgrims who attended the Hajj in the cities of Mecca and Medina returned to Turkmenistan. In the heart of the Islamic world, Mecca, pilgrims circumambulated the Kaaba, the main Muslim shrine. In Medina they visited the mausoleum of the Prophet Muhammad and his companions, as well as other revered places. A special flight to deliver pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and back was organized at the expense of the “Turkmenhowayollary” Agency.

7. Hallasan, an extinct volcano and the highest point in South Korea, is in danger of being destroyed by something seemingly harmless - instant noodle broth. Located on Jeju Island, Hallasan has been a national park since 1966. However, the recent surge in popularity of instant noodles among tourists is threatening this natural gem. The problem is that tourists pour unused broth on the ground or into rivers. The broth, containing a large amount of salt, poisons the soil and water sources, killing insects and disturbing the fragile balance of the ecosystem.

8. An unusual trial has ended in the United States: a 68-year-old Long Island resident sued BMW for a large sum of 1,9 million USD for an injury sustained from a car door. The incident happened in 2016 to programmer Godwin Boateng. He used a BMW X5 equipped with a soft-closing door system. As a result of the incident, the man lost part of his thumb, which, according to doctors, could not be restored. During the trial, it was discovered that BMW hid the true extent of such cases. The company said the incidents were isolated, but an investigation revealed at least 44 similar injuries worldwide related to the soft-close function.

9. Footballer of the “Navbakhor” youth club Zulfakar Ali received an invitation to the Turkmenistan U20 national team. Zulfaqar Ali joined the roster of the Uzbek “Navbakhor” in the winter of 2024. Last season, the footballer played for the reserve team of Ashgabat “Kopetdag”. The youth team of Turkmenistan will take part in the championship of the Central Asian Football Association. The tournament will be held from July 5 to 12 in Jalal-Abad.

10. At Euro 2024 football in Germany, the first matches of the 1/8 finals have ended. On Sunday, Spain beat the Georgian team with a score of 4:1. England snatched victory from Slovakia – 2:1. A day earlier, the German national team beat Denmark 2:0, and Switzerland unexpectedly knocked Italy out of the tournament, winning 2:0. In the quarter-finals, England will play Switzerland on 6 July and Spain will face Germany on 5 July.
