Turkmen railway workers are planning to build a warehouse complex, in other words a “dry port”, at the Turgundi station in Afghanistan.

Questions regarding this were discussed at an online meeting by representatives of the Agency “Railways of Turkmenistan” and the Afghan Railways Department, the IIC reports.

During the meeting, project memorandums of understanding were agreed upon on the allocation of a land plot for the construction of a warehouse complex and on its management.

Issues such as the source of investment for the construction of a “dry port” in Turgundi, the total area allocated for it, the projected efficiency of the warehouse complex, the conditions and strategy for managing it by Turkmen railway workers were discussed.

The Afghan side assured that it would immediately send an official invitation to the Turkmen side through diplomatic channels to sign memorandums regarding this in Kabul.

A meeting with the Turkmen railway delegation in Kabul is expected to take place in about two weeks.

The head of the Afghan Railways Department expressed gratitude to his Turkmen colleagues for their invaluable assistance in the development of the transport industry, the source notes.
