On the slopes of the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, an alarming phenomenon is occurring. Global warming is causing snow and ice to melt, revealing the bodies of dead climbers, hidden for decades under thick snow. This was reported by “MIR 24” with reference to The Japan Times.

Nepalese military and professional climbers are carrying out a complex operation to evacuate the remains. Major Aditya Karki, who leads a team of 30 military climbers, reports five newly discovered bodies.

Tshiring Jangbu, an experienced rescue expedition guide, emphasizes the extreme difficulty of the task. At high altitudes, body weight can exceed 100 kg, while the physical capabilities of rescuers are significantly limited due to the thin air.

Surprisingly, some bodies, thanks to extremely low temperatures, were preserved almost unchanged. Dead climbers are found in full gear, including crampons and safety equipment.

Since the conquest of Everest began in the 1920s, more than 300 people have died on its slopes. The main cause of tragedies is considered to be hypoxia and altitude sickness, which occur at altitudes above 8000 meters. In 2024, the mountain has already claimed the lives of eight climbers.
