From June 3 to 5, the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, will become a center of attraction for movie lovers. Here, at the “Berkarar” cinema, the “Russian Film Festival Turkmenistan 2024” / RUS FILM FESTIWALY TÜRKMENISTAN 2024 will be held.

The festival was organized by ROSKINO, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Cinema Foundation and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan.

Viewers can expect a rich program, which includes the fairy tales “At the Pike’s Command,” “Three Heroes and the Navel of the Earth”, “Ruslan and Lyudmila. More than a fairy tale” and the melodrama “I'm taking a step”.

All film screenings during the festival will be free, which will permit everyone to plunge into the world of Russian cinema and enjoy its originality and skill.

The program included hits of Russian cinema:

- the fairy tale “At the Command of the Pike” (dir. Alexander Voitinsky, 2023), which became one of the highest-grossing films in Russian cinemas at the end of 2023: gross receipts amounted to over 2,4 billion rubles;
- the comedy fantasy cartoon “Three Heroes and the Navel of the Earth” (dir. Konstantin Feoktistov, 2023) is the highest-grossing animated film in the entire history of Russian distribution, earning more than 1 billion rubles. This is the twelfth part of the “Three Heroes” franchise.
- cartoon “Ruslan and Lyudmila. More than a fairy tale” (dir. Alexey Tsitsilin, Vladimir Nikolaev, Alexey Zamyslov, 2023) based on the poem “Ruslan and Lyudmila” by A.S. Pushkin. On the eve of the 225th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, the show will be especially relevant.
- melodrama “I’m taking a step” (dir. Olga Akatieva, 2023) - a film that raises the topic of dyslexia: according to the plot, a talented graduate of a pedagogical university, suffering from dyslexia, becomes a literature teacher in a provincial school.

The festival, organized by ROSKINO, will be held in Turkmenistan for the fourth time.

As the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova emphasized: “Relations with Turkmenistan are reaching a new level, which is confirmed by a number of recent meetings - this is the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS countries in Ashgabat, and the International Conference of Ministers of Culture dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi, which also was held in Ashgabat. “Russian Culture Days are planned in Turkmenistan this fall: our Russian Film Festival will be an important event on the eve of this large-scale event”.

ROSKINO is a state organization representing the Russian audiovisual content industry at international festivals and film markets. 100% of the company's shares belong to the Federal Agency for State Property Management. In 2024, the company celebrates its centenary (ROSKINO is the legal successor of the “Sovexportfilm” organization, whose history dates back to 1924).
