The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Turkmenistan and the British Embassy in Turkmenistan jointly organized the seventh coordination meeting of the Development Partners Climate Group in Ashgabat on May 31 to accelerate Turkmenistan's progress in meeting its international obligations under the Paris Agreement.
The meeting was held at the Environmental Center of the Bouygues-Turkmen company. The event was attended by representatives of UN agencies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the diplomatic corps and international development partners, including USAID, the EU, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the OSCE Center in Ashgabat and non-governmental organizations.
The meeting served as a platform to discuss development partners' actions on the country's climate agenda, including providing an update on activities following the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) and discussing preparations for the upcoming COP29 climate summit in Baku, Azerbaijan, scheduled for November 2024.
