An artistic depiction of the Princess of Wales, created by British-Zambian artist Hannah Uzor, caused a strong reaction on social networks after its publication in Tatler magazine, reports hellomarussia.ru.

The portrait, which will be part of a series of portraits of the royal family, will grace the cover of the July issue of Tatler. Yuzor took inspiration from a photo of Kate taken at a state banquet in November 2022.

User opinions are divided. Supporters of the artist note that the portrait reflects the princess's «strength, dignity and courage.»

However, many Kate Middleton fans expressed disappointment with the piece, believing that it did not convey either the beauty or elegance of the princess.

“Disappointing portrait… She is much more beautiful,” one user wrote.

“A very poor portrait that fails to capture the beauty and elegance of the Princess of Wales at all,” said another.

It's worth noting that this isn't the first time royal portraits have sparked controversy. Two weeks ago, artist Jonathan Yeo came under fire for his portrait of King Charles III, the first official portrait of the monarch since his accession to the throne.

Critics complained about the red background of the portrait, which, in their opinion, gives Charles III a gloomy and unfriendly appearance.
