In Japan, the Shiba Inu Kabosu, known as the heroine of the Doge meme, died at the age of 19. Kabosu's owner, Atsuko Sato, announced the pet's death on her blog. According to her, the dog died calmly, in her sleep, at 7:50 am Japan time, writes snob.ru.

Also in 2013, programmers created the Dogecoin cryptocurrency using Kabosu's image. Today, Dogecoin is one of the ten largest cryptocurrencies with a capitalization of more than 23 billion USD.
Elon Musk, known for his partiality towards cryptocurrencies, acquired Dogecoin and said that this coin could be used to pay for goods and services from Tesla, Starlink, Starship and X.
