President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS countries.
Akylbek Japarov congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on the 300th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding classic of Turkmen literature Magtymguly Fragi and expressed gratitude for the installation of a monument to the Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov in the cultural and park complex named after Magtymguly Fragi, the press service of the Kyrgyz government reports.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of strengthening trade and economic ties between the two countries, the development of transit transport, import of electricity and other aspects of bilateral cooperation.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the interest of the Turkmen side in the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.
At the end of the meeting, Akylbek Japarov noted that the Kyrgyz side expects the visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Kyrgyzstan.
