The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the Chairman of the Japanese-Turkmen Interparliamentary Friendship Group Toshiaki Endo. A member of the House of Representatives of the Japanese Parliament, Ayano Sato, also took part in the meeting, writes TDH.
Noting that Turkmenistan and Japan constructively interact both in a bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations, the National Leader of the Turkmen people expressed gratitude to the Japanese side for supporting the neutral status and peaceful foreign policy of Turkmenistan, as well as its initiative to declare 2025 the International Year peace and trust.
“Next year a number of events will be held under this motto,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, inviting representatives of Japan to take part in them.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, the Chairman of the Japanese-Turkmen Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group noted that he recalled with great warmth the meeting with the National Leader of the Turkmen people held in Japan in 2022, at which priority aspects of interstate cooperation were discussed.
Taking this opportunity, Toshiaki Endo also invited Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to visit the World Exhibition “EXPO-2025”, which will be held in Japan next year.
During the conversation, an interested exchange of views took place on current issues of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation, where one of the key areas is interaction in the trade and economic sphere. In this regard, the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized the significant contribution of Japanese partners to the implementation of the industrialization program of Turkmenistan and the implementation of major investment projects.
For many years, large Japanese companies have been working effectively in the gas sector and chemical industry of Turkmenistan. Here, as a clear example, a successfully implemented joint project for the construction of a plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas in the Ahal velayat was given. In this regard, the guest noted that the high-quality gasoline produced at this ultra-modern enterprise, which fully meets environmental standards, is in demand abroad.
There are also broad prospects for cooperation in the application of advanced technologies, in particular in the field of design, construction and management of smart cities.
Special attention during the meeting was paid to the development of interparliamentary relations. Here, a significant role is given to the activities of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Friendship Groups, designed to serve as an effective mechanism for exchanging experience in the legislative sphere, strengthening specialized bilateral contacts and conducting consultations.
In this context, it was noted that work is underway to implement Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s initiative to organize a meeting in Ashgabat of the heads of parliaments of the Central Asian countries and Japan within the framework of the “Central Asia + Japan” dialogue, in the format of which positive experience of cooperation has been accumulated.
It was also emphasized that cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, which contributes to the rapprochement of peoples and the mutual enrichment of cultures, certainly plays a significant role in strengthening interstate relations.
At the same time, the readiness of Turkmenistan and Japan to continue many years of fruitful interaction in this direction was expressed.
Taking this opportunity, the guest cordially congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the entire Turkmen people on the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, as well as on the upcoming big holiday - Constitution and National Flag Day.
