A solemn event dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi was held in London. The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the UK, reports the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
The ceremony was attended by foreign ambassadors, British parliamentarians, representatives of international organizations and cultural institutions, professors from London universities, including University College London, London South Bank University, SOAS, the head of The Aitmatov Academy, members of the Turkmen diaspora and students.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Great Britain Y. Seryaev spoke about the planned international and national events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi in 2024. During the celebration, poems by the Turkmen classic were read, and videos about the development of Turkmenistan and the work of Magtymguly Fragi were shown.
After the official part, the guests visited an exhibition of works by Magtymguly Fragi, Turkmen national clothing, jewelry and examples of decorative and applied art of the Turkmen people.
