29 years old Abubakar Tahiru from Ghana holds the world record for the most trees hugged in one hour. The master's student in forestry hugged 1 123 trees, which is almost 19 trees per minute. This was reported by “MIR 24” with reference to the Guinness World Records website.
For the record attempt, Tahiru chose the Tuskegee National Forest in Alabama, USA, where he is studying.
The record rules are strict. A hug is considered to be tightly clasping the trunk of a tree with your hands; you cannot hug the same tree several times, and it is also forbidden to harm them.
According to Tahiru, the hardest part was moving quickly between the trees and making sure each hug followed the rules. “Hugging so much in such a short time is exhausting”, - he added.
