In 2023, more than 120 thousand tourists from Turkmenistan visited Türkiye. Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye Ahmet Demirok announced this during the presentation of the country’s Tourism Week in Ashgabat, Turkmenportal correspondent reports.
According to official data, 45 249 citizens of Turkmenistan visited Türkiye in 2022. But in 2023, this figure increased by 167% and reached 120 928 people.
The ambassador emphasized that such a significant increase in the interest of Turkmen citizens in Türkiye indicates the strengthening of cultural and tourist ties between the two countries.
In addition, the development of air traffic between Türkiye and Turkmenistan, in particular, the increase in flights of Turkish Airlines and “Turkmenistan” Airlines, contributed to the growth of tourist flows.
Türkiye is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world and receives millions of visitors every year, including from Turkmenistan. Further strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector remains an important priority for both countries.
