A three-day training aimed at improving the level of media literacy and fact-checking skills of journalists and content creators has begun in the Turkmen capital, a Turkmenportal correspondent reports.
The event is organized by the US Embassy in Turkmenistan and the Union of Economists of Turkmenistan.
On the first day, about 60 participants were divided into two groups, where, under the guidance of experienced trainers from the MediaNet organization, they learned about the basics of media and information literacy. Trainers explained the differences between types of information, media, facts and opinions through interactive activities.
Particular attention was paid to information hygiene issues, social networks and associated risks, such as malicious mailings, bots and disinformation.
The master class will continue in the following days with the analysis of practical cases on data verification and fact-checking of various content using open sources of information.
