The other day, the National Barcode Organization of Turkmenistan celebrated the tenth anniversary of its activity, marking the date with a general meeting of its members.

According to the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, at the meeting a review of the organization’s activities over the past period was made.

Chairman of the NOTSHK Aykamar Myalikgulyeva summarized the main achievements of the organization, including within the framework of the implementation of the work program for 2023-2024, and outlined priority areas for further work and tasks for the coming period.

NOTSHK is a member of the international structure GS1. It includes 2 440 ministries and line departments, organizations and enterprises of the public and private sectors.

Among the achievements of NOTSHK over 10 years are membership in the international organization GS1, the creation of the National Technical Committee for Standardization, and the opening in 2017 of a verification laboratory that allows monitoring compliance of barcode application with international standards.

To date, over 76 thousand bar codes have been issued, and domestic commercial products have been assigned the appropriate labeling.

NOTSHK has fully embraced the system of automatic identification of Turkmen commodity producers, which helps promote their products to world markets. The “Made in Turkmenistan” website developed by NOTSHK also contributes to the improvement of the information database on Turkmen commodity producers.

NOTSHK plans to continue its work to support the effective use of various types of automatic identification in various fields. A platform is currently being developed to protect the rights of commodity producers, the source notes.
