President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who is on a visit to Ashgabat, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
The head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the head of Turkmenistan from the President of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and the Supreme Spiritual Leader of the country Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He emphasized that Tehran attaches great importance to strengthening the traditionally fruitful dialogue with Turkmenistan.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov, warmly welcoming the Iranian minister, conveyed his best wishes to the top leadership of Iran. He expressed confidence that the upcoming bilateral negotiations will be productive and will contribute to the development of friendly relations between the countries.
The head of state noted that one of the key vectors of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy is multifaceted cooperation with neighboring states on the basis of friendship, mutual respect and trust.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the successful development of political and diplomatic dialogue at the bilateral level and within the framework of international organizations, based on traditions of respect and mutual understanding.
The head of Turkmenistan called Iran one of the country’s most important trade and economic partners. He particularly noted the role of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation and expressed confidence that the implementation of projects in the energy and transport sectors will give impetus to the bilateral partnership.
At the same time, special emphasis was placed on the importance of searching for new forms and methods of interaction in the fuel and energy complex in accordance with modern requirements, and intensifying relations in the areas of export and transit of energy resources.
It was also emphasized that the humanitarian sphere is an integral component of the Turkmen-Iranian dialogue. Evidence of this is the mutual visits of delegations from the two countries, the holding of joint cultural events, in particular Culture Days, various exhibitions and other events.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian wished each other good health and success, expressing firm confidence in the further expansion and strengthening of relations between friendly fraternal states on the basis of good neighborliness and mutual interest.
