The delegation of Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mahri Bashimova, announced a number of global initiatives of the country at international platforms in Geneva, reports the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
During the UNECE Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, the Turkmen delegation voiced proposals for the creation of a Global Framework for the Transition to a Circular Economy, a Global Atlas of Sustainable Transport Connectivity and an Alliance for Global Energy Security and Sustainable Development. These initiatives are in line with the UN 2030 Agenda in the economic, transport and energy sectors.
Later, the delegation met with the leadership of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). The situation of women in Afghanistan was discussed at the IOM; Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of dialogue and support for Afghan entrepreneurs. The IOM Director General positively assessed the efforts of Ashgabat.
Turkmen diplomats exchanged views with the WTO on the process of Turkmenistan’s accession to this organization. The delegation’s visit is aimed at promoting the country’s international agenda in key areas of development.
