The current winner of the European Champions League, the English football club Manchester City, beat the Danish Copenhagen at home with a score of 3:1 in the return match of the 1/8 finals and reached the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The goals for City were scored by Manuel Akanji (5th minute), (Julian Alvarez 9th minute) and Erling Haaland (45+3). Josep Guardiola’s team won the first meeting with the same score.
In another match of the day, Spanish Real Madrid drew with German Leipzig with a score of 1:1. The meeting took place at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid. Vinicius scored for Real (65th minute). Willi Orban scored against Leipzig (68th). The first match ended in a victory for the royal club with a score of 1:0.
Earlier, the German Bayern Munich and the French PSG reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League. The return matches in the remaining four pairs of 1/8 finals will be held on March 12 and 13.
The draw for the quarter-finals will take place on March 15. The first legs will be played on April 9 and 10, the return matches on April 16 and 17. The Champions League final will take place on June 1 at Wembley Stadium in London.
