A boxing tournament was held in Ashgabat within the framework of the 13th Universiade. 94 athletes from 17 universities in the country entered the ring to challenge the title of champion in eight weight categories, reports “MIR 24”.
The fights were held in the arena of the “Taze Zaman” sports and recreation complex. At the end of the tournament, the main prize went to the team of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports. Silver went to students of the State Institute of Architecture and Construction, and bronze was won by boxers from the Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
– I wouldn’t call this fight particularly difficult, because I’ve been boxing for 10 years, and my opponent is a newcomer. But at the Universiade you need to be prepared to meet experienced fighters”, - winner Dovlet Muhanov from the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports shared his impressions.
The boxing tournament became the second stage of the 13th Student Universiade in Turkmenistan after the freestyle wrestling competition.
