Eurostat, the EU's statistical agency, reports an increase in the number of women in science and engineering, writes euro-pulse.ru.
41% of professionals in these fields are women, representing 7.3 million people. Over the year, this figure increased by 310 thousand.
The leaders in the share of women in science and engineering are Denmark (53%), Lithuania (52%) and Bulgaria (51%).
The fewest women in these professions are in Hungary (31%), Finland (32%) and Germany (34%).
Areas of employment:
- 88.8% of women scientists and engineers work in the service sector.
- 10.8% – in high-tech industries.
- 7.7% – in production.
Women engineers least often choose to work in postal services, water and air transport.
