Engineers from the University of Washington presented a new product - smart earrings that can become an alternative to fitness bracelets. Mail.ru reports this.
The miniature gadget is equipped with two thermometers, one of which measures the temperature of the earlobe, and the other measures the ambient temperature. Analyzing the difference, earrings determine various states of the body: sleep quality, diet, stress level. Compared to smartwatches, earrings showed higher accuracy in tracking health indicators.
Despite their compact size, the earrings are equipped with everything you need, including a Bluetooth module for communication with a smartphone and a battery that provides up to 28 days of operation without recharging.
The developers created several prototypes, proving that additional decorations (stones, resin, plastic) do not affect the functionality of the device. Earrings can become not only a fashion accessory, but also a faithful assistant in taking care of your health.
There are no plans to commercialize the product yet. The study authors note that additional testing is needed before entering the market.
