The International Information Center of Turkmenistan has released a television program about the Turkmen Alabay, a breed of dog that is considered a national treasure, reports the electronic publication “Big Asia”.
Alabay are an integral part of the culture of Turkmenistan, symbolizing the harmony, beauty and spiritual values of the people.
Today, alabay are closely intertwined with the daily life of Turkmens. National leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wrote a book about the role of this ancient breed in the history and culture of the country.
There is a museum of Alabays in Ashgabat, and the annual Turkmen Alabay Festival is also held. It was in Turkmenistan that the international association of specialists in this unique breed was founded, the source notes.
